Use RFID/GPS Solutions To Land More Customers
From: IT RESELLER ONLINE
This RFID (radio frequency identification) integrator plans to grow its sales 100% this year by combining RFID and GPS (global positioning system) technologies.
RFID is a technology that VARs and integrators have been cautious about adopting — and rightfully so. Compared with the number of high-profile mandates and the amount of press RFID has garnered in recent years, the number of companies actually implementing the technology has been relatively low. Thus, in the past five years, there hasn’t been an influx of RFID-specific VARs or integrators. But, that’s been good news for Mike Beedles.
Beedles is the executive VP of The Tracking Corp. and general manager of TrackingRFID (formerly Fibergrations), an integrator dedicated to providing RFID solutions. Before starting TrackingRFID in 2004, he was a VP of information technologies/systems for a major logistics company. Through his experiences in the logistics industry, he came to believe that RFID was on the verge of revolutionizing supply chain management, so he decided to start his own RFID-focused company. Today, TrackingRFID offers its own WMS (warehouse management system) and RFID software and all of the hardware and services (e.g. site surveys, tag selection) that accompany these applications. The company focuses on UHF (ultra high frequency) RFID projects for customers seeking compliance with government and retailers’ mandates. That kind of focus led to approximately 20% of TrackingRFID’s clients being Fortune 500 companies, and that type of client roster led to the integrator being acquired earlier this year. Now owned by GPS vendor The Tracking Corp, TrackingRFID is learning how it can continue to grow its RFID client base and earn additional sales by combining RFID and GPS technologies.
