Chicago Store Grand Opening: Details, Part 2

It's just over a week before the doors fly open at our brand-spankin' new retail store on Chicago's Michigan Avenue. If you're in the area on Saturday, November 11, please stop by and help us celebrate! Yesterday, we told you about the Runner's World/CARA fun run and presentation by Bart Yasso. Today, we've got more skinny that's sure to excite the geocaching crowd... click on the link for more.

We're very excited to announce that one of the founders of Geocaching.com, Jeremy Irish, will be appearing at our store at high noon on November 11. To the uninitiated, geocaching is basically a high-tech treasure hunt, in which participants use a GPS receiver to hide and seek containers (called "geocaches”) anywhere in the world. A typical cache is a small waterproof container containing a logbook and trinkets. Just as important, geocaching is a great way to learn how to use a Garmin recreational handheld unit -- as well as a fun way to see parts of the world you never knew existed.

Jeremy will give a short presentation in our seminar area, but seating is limited. As an added bonus, we'll begin giving away limited edition Garmin commemorative geocoins at 11:30am (limit one per person, while supplies last). In case you're wondering, geocoins are highly collectible -- and many times, geocachers register geocoins and leave them in caches for others to find – and log their whereabouts on the internet. (You can see a sketch of our geocoin pictured alongside this post.)

So now you've got yet another reason to stop by the new digs next Saturday, at 663 North Michigan Avenue (the corner of Michigan and Erie). For you geocachers, that's N41 53.652 W87 37.450. See you there!
