A GARMIN 430 QUESTION AND ANSWER

Does anyone know if there is a way to set waypoint intersections (fixes) into the Garmin 430 in XP850? It seems to take airports, vors and ndb without problem, but if I try to set it to take a five digit FIX ID, it only give me four digits like an airport ID. Thanks.

Are you using the Garmin430 X-Plane gauge or an external Garmin 430? If external, turn the large right knob to WPT, turn the small right knob to USER. Press the enter of the small right knob to activate the cursor. Use the small right knob to select the letter/number of the first character, turn the large right knob clockwise to select the second position and then the small right knob to select the next character, continue until you have the selected Waypoint name. Press ENT

Next use the large right knob to move the cursor to the Reference area or the LAT/LON area. Use the same input technique to insert the information.

At the end, save the User Waypoint.
